Professional Background
Michael Maehl, originally from Chicago, joined Opus 111 Group in 2008 as a Senior Vice President and head of its Spokane office. His investment career began in 1973, with training in New York City before serving clients in Chicago. Mike moved to Anchorage in 1982, where he became a branch manager in 1984. He relocated to Washington State in 1993 for another branch manager role and established an additional office in Arizona in 2020, actively serving clients nationwide.

Educational and Military Background
Mike graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1967. In 1968, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps Officer Candidate program, ultimately serving in Vietnam as an infantry platoon commander. He remained in the active reserves until 1977, leaving with the rank of Captain.

Personal and Civic Background
In Spokane, Mike graduated from Leadership Spokane, Class of 1999, and is a life member of both the Marine Corps League and VFW. He has served as a mentor in the Vets Forum, President of the Spokane Sister Cities International Board, and past president of the Spokane Valley Rotary. Mike is also a guest lecturer at Gonzaga University Graduate School of Business and has served as an Honorary Commander of the 141st Air Refueling Wing at Fairchild AFB in Spokane.

Mike hosts a weekly hour-long call-in program called ‘Money Management’ on investing, the markets, and the economy on Spokane’s ABC radio outlet, KXLY 920 AM, and Seattle’s KIXI AM 880. His wife of 43 years, Diane, is a realtor and active on the pickleball tournament circuit. Their daughter is a graphic artist in Phoenix, and their son runs a heavy-duty equipment sales and rental business in Phoenix. Mike enjoys photography, travel, reading, and long bicycle treks around the Valley of the Sun.
